Academia Europea

The job search has ended! A friend of Esa's (Marina from the "Marina's Birthday" post) recommended I apply at Academia Europea, a language academy where English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Mandarin are taught. I will obviously be teaching Mandarin.

It's a beautiful school with a nice atmosphere. After training for 2 weeks, I have finally started getting some classes. There have been some real highs and lows. Examples: Low- when the only student I had in my Saturday class (a 10 year old boy) fell asleep. High- when the lady in my private class the next Saturday told me the time flew by and she learned a lot!

The banners of the different languages... Esa and I have already planned that after he learns English, we would both like to learn a third language together, so maybe this is where we will do it.

*Enjoy the pictures because due to privacy reasons I was reprimanded for taking them, and there won't be any more. :)

  2. HAHA. I can just see you nodding solemnly as the director of language studies reprimands you for taking pictures. That's kind of like getting caught touching the "Do Not Touch" object.
I love these photos. It's great to see where you've been spending so much time.
Funny: you teaching mandarin, and the little boy falling asleep. It couldn't have been you...?
I think you and Esa are ambitious. That's great. Although, I think I'm going to ask him AFTER he learns English which one he's going to conquer next because maybe, just maybe, his eyes might be bigger than his stomach. Oh, and there's always Pig Latin. I'm sure Mom and Aundrea could teach him that quite quickly.
    Love you,
    A

  3. I love the pictures of the school--it looks really nice! You look like quite the professional teacher! Oh, and the Pig Latin...would that be in Spanish or English?

  4. Both, of course. That will make us feel even more exclusive and secretive.

  5. How nice that you are teaching. I think you'll remember that I have always told you that you'd be a wonderful teacher. Now...about letting a 10 year old fall asleep in your class... Maybe you should dream up so new teaching tools, keeping brother Victor in mind, as to what would be stimulating! Do you have the liberty to do that or are you on a particular format? It looks like a wonderful place to work. Glad for you Katie dear!
