La Terminal

I had heard so much about "la terminal" that I was pretty curious to see it. I finally got the chance to go with oldest brother Gerson, and I came to the conclusion the main appeal is the bargains. It's dirty and somewhat dangerous, yet another face of Guatemala, but it's the cheapest place to buy fruits, vegetables, seafood, etc.

A woman with her lunch stand. I imagine a plate of food would probably cost about $1.50.

A vegetable laden pickup... they probably went the the terminal to buy their produce and were returning to their own smaller scale fruit and vegetable stand in another part of the city. Prices can be bumped up a bit for the convenience of being within walking distance.

Plenty of manual labor- another common sight. Cartons of eggs, and I'm not sure what else.

This place caught my eye because of all the tomatoes. It looked like they had commited to selling only red things.

  1. This is a neat post Katie. Cute wording "committed to selling only red things." I also really liked the picture above it. It seems so classical of the market place...the women and their fruits and vegetables...
